National Firearms Agreement (NFA)
The 1996 inter-governmental agreement that sets the floor for all Australian firearms law.

The NFA was agreed by all states and territories in 1996 after Port Arthur. It sets minimum standards for licensing, registration, categories and storage. Each state's Firearms Act implements it locally — they cannot legally fall below the NFA standard.
